Overview

Wayloader Goal helps planners and site teams define, prioritise and track goals inside a broader work-planning platform.

I led the initiative from research and user insight through high-fidelity prototypes and design delivery, focusing on the path from an objective to an actionable plan.

02

The problem

Teams struggled to translate high-level goals into actionable planning steps, maintain clarity on progress and share goals in a way that encouraged accountability.

Frequent movement between mobile and desktop made continuity—and a common understanding of status—essential.

03

My role & constraints

  • Led discovery and UX strategy
  • Interviewed planners and cross-functional team members
  • Mapped journeys from goals to tasks to outcomes
  • Designed wireframes and high-fidelity UI
  • Created interactive Figma prototypes
  • Collaborated with Product, Engineering and stakeholders
04

Discovery & research

I combined interviews, workflow analysis and usability reviews of existing and competitive tools.

The work focused on where a goal becomes actionable, how progress is interpreted and what must remain consistent as users move between contexts.

Key insights

01

Teams needed visual clarity on goal status and progression.

02

A missing shared vocabulary created confusion in planning conversations.

03

Users shifted frequently between mobile and desktop contexts.

05

Design approach

01

Visual goal hierarchy

Made the relationship between objectives, milestones, tasks and outcomes explicit.

02

Cross-device consistency

Kept the mental model stable while adapting interactions to each screen size.

03

Iterative prototyping

Tested progress tracking, goal grouping and status feedback with users before detailed delivery.

06

The solution

01

Goal overview

A central hub summarising active goals, status and key metrics at a glance.

02

Goal detail

Connects an objective to actionable tasks, progress, dependencies and blockers.

03

Cross-device continuity

Supports low-friction updates on mobile while preserving state between mobile and desktop.

07

Outcome & impact

01

Increased clarity and shared understanding of project goals in usability testing.

02

Faster alignment during team planning discussions.

03

Stronger confidence around next steps and progress visibility.

04

Positive response to visual progress cues and simpler navigation.

08

Reflection

Goal tracking only works when everyone interprets status in the same way. The shared language was as important as the interface.

Where I’d take it next

  • Automated goal suggestions based on project patterns
  • Deeper integration between goals and task workflows
